Vinyasa + Vedic Studies 340 Hour Yoga Teacher Training


Completion of the Atman Yoga School 340 hour advanced vinyasa teacher training, combined with a previous 200 hour training, will allow a teacher to register with the Yoga Alliance at the RYT 500 level.

The Atman Yoga School 340 hour advanced vinyasa training is centered around three pillars of study and experiential learning, and deepens a students’ knowledge of the ancient practices of yoga and yoga philosophy while simultaneously preparing a teacher for a successful teaching career. The three pillars of the 340 hour training are: Yoga Philosophy/Traditional Studies, Teaching Techniques, and Business Mentoring. All students are required to submit a thesis paper on a subject related to yoga to qualify for graduation.


Yoga Philosophy/Traditional Studies// Hatha Yoga Pradipika studies, Upanishads studies, Yoga Sutra studies, Bhagavad Gita Studies, mantra japa, daily asana practice, master workshops, meditation, Yoga Nidra, pranayama, energetic anatomy (koshas, nadis and vayus), personal studies, in-depth Chakra studies, dieties and mythology, ceremonies and pujas, mala meditation (each student builds their own mala bead necklace), and a graduation thesis.

Teaching Techniques//anatomy, posture clinics, verbal and non-verbal communication, cue refinement, assisting techniques and hands-on practicum, advanced sequencing workshops, practice teaching, group feedback sessions (themes, music, sequencing), class planning, advanced themeing, video feedback on taught classes (each student teaches a class that is video recorded and analyzed, to provide valuable feedback), opening and closing classes, and how to create community with students.

Business mentoring// Identify your message, target your student demographic, and build your brand. Group and personal journaling/activities to clarify your offerings and business strategy. Vision board activity. Develop a business plan and “pitch” your business to the group for feedback. Logistics of starting your brand: ideas for logos, taglines, where to purchase domain name/host website, content for website, marketing/PR, and social media channels. ‘How-to’ seminars on the big three: yoga retreats, yoga festivals, and workshop tours. Step-by step contract negotiation, and review of contract templates (templates provided). Workshop on paymentstructure- how to price private classes, group classes, and special events.
